With Austin City Limits having come and gone this past weekend, many ACL goers are finally done treating their sunburn and exhaustion.  As many find themselves growing tired of looking through their ACL photos, they start to feel fully recuperated and begin to wonder… “What’s next?”
With SXSW still months away, many concert goers find themselves looking for the next noteworthy show on the horizon.  Skimming through upcoming venue schedules, a few specific shows seemed to stand out.

The first of these acts worth checking out is a band hailing from the indie scene of New York City called Interpol.  The band, formed in 1998, just released it’s third album and is back from having spent the summer touring overseas.  The band will play at Stubbs on September 26, and it should be a somewhat intimate show considering the bands popularity.  However a band like Interpol playing at a venue that can only accommodate 1,800 people has inevitably sold out.  Although tickets have already sold out, the show will definitely be worth skimming through Craig’s List for extra tickets.

If any of you come to find sold out Interpol tickets to difficult to come by, or resell prices too unreasonable, rest assured, it gets better.  Peter Frampton, of Humble Pie, and later solo fame, will be playing at the Backyard in Austin on October 18.  Luckily the Backyard can accommodate 5,000 people, so tickets are still available.

Now depending who you ask, the best was saved for last.  While this show, still a month and a half away, may seem too far in the future to plan on attending, many of this bands fans have been waiting much longer for the chance to see them.  On October 2, also at the Backyard, the Smashing Pumpkins will be playing in promotion of their new and highly anticipated album Zeitgeist.  Zeitgeist, the bands sixth album, and first in seven years, is the first to be released after the bands recent reuniting after a 2000 split.  Monica Valdez, Biology senior says, “I’ll definitely make it out to see the Pumpkins, who knows when they’ll tour again.”  Tickets go on sale Saturday 22, and while the Backyard is a big venue, their fan base is just as big and getting your tickets ASAP would be a good idea.
